View Full Version : Preparing inkjet printer for shipping

We are moving overseas shortly and I intend to ship our Epson Stylus 870 inkjet printer to the UK. Does anybody know what I should do to ensure the printer heads are not clogged up and it still works when it arrives, after upto 12 weeks without use. Thank you.

Do you have any of the original packaging? This is VERY good packaging for moving your printer.

However I'd suggest you'd need to remove your print cartridges, and buy new ones when you start using the printer again, just to be on the safe side. It may be an unwanted cost, but it will be much cheaper than having to get the printer fixed when you get there.

Thanks Mike, we do have all the original packing so that is not a problem. My main concern was when we remove the existing ink cartridges, will the ink in the nozzles dry and cause a blockage which will prevent the printer working later on. Is anybody able to advise if this would be a problem and if so, how can I clean the nozzles prior to shipping.

Thank you
