View Full Version : Scanning 35mm slides

I have hundreds of colour slides which I would like to scan and save on CD-Rom.

I would like to know what would be the best scanner to buy and what would be the best software to organise the images for easy retrieval.

I have all the HPs and find the active transparency adaptors worth the extra dollars.
I prefer the square transparency adaptor to the long thin black on due to the more media types it will take.
Forget the passive adaptors they are a waste of time.
You quite easily get a decent a4 out of the slides.

I have had an HP Scanjet 5370C for just over a year and it scans slides very well. I think it is an obsolete model now but the newer ones (with the active slode scanner) are about half the price and twice the resolution. I've been using a freebee piece of software called My Album (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/myalbum/MyAlbum.html) to create and autorun cd stored slide shows and it too works well.
