Hi, I copied a program to a CD-R but the program won't reconise the CD because the name is wrong. Its 020519_1746. Can the CD-R be renamed with some program? I can still add to the CD-R but cant seem to change the volumn name.
Thanks
Mark

Sorry Mark, once something is written to CD-R (as opposed to CD-RW) it is there for good. You can add new data but can not modify or delete existing data. Looks like you have another coaster.

You would need to rename it at the start. You can't do it after burning the CD.

Also be aware that you may be breaching a copywright.

I would like to say that CD-R's do have a rewriteable space (TOC) so that when content is added to a cd, it can see the new content. I am not sure if the label is written to this area, because then it could be changed.

Thanks, I was able to rename it using Nero. Must be stored in the TOC. I couldn't do a normal disk copy because the CD was too scratched. You can make a copy of software you have bought and put the original away.If the copy stops working you can throw it away and make another copy. Some CD say not to be copied but lots don't.
