OK, I asked once before, but it's still here.

Main computer has Winfax pro 10 installed----receives fax, and rings cell phone to notify me that a fax has arrived.

Hook cell phone to laptop, to retreive fax to laptop.

Laptop and main computer handshake, but can't find a suitable speed to comunicate.

No problem if laptop is hooked to a landline, retrive fax straight away.

No problem sending fax from laptop, through cell phone.

Just can't retrive through cell phone (025).

Any ideas much appreciated. KO

Hmm...
025 will be D-AMPS at best, which has a theoretical 9600 baud but actually much less. Probably 1200-2400 baud or thereabouts in reality. Can your main PC go that low reliably...maybe you have answered this, as you say they cant negotiate a speed.

Landline PC to PC will be *normal* modem speeds.

Tried 027 or 021?

That's interesting, they start of talking to each other at 14.4, and drop and drop to 2600 then decide it's not going to work, and cut off. This is all during the handshaking, no data is transmitted.

The cell phone is a Motorola Startac, which replaced the old Startac after it fell down the tiolet. Funny thing is the old one worked perfectly.
