Is there a way to make windows explorer open up at a specific folder AND display the folder tree on the side automatically??

Cheers,
Craig.

You can get Win Explorer to open at the C: drive in Details view by using a shortcut with C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:\ copied and pasted in the Target field.

To make it open at a specific folder add the path after the C:\

There sure is.
Right click explorer, go into properties. At the end of the target line, you need to add /e, and then the directory you want it to open.

For example on my pc I have the 'downloads' folder on my d-drive opened. To achieve this the tareget line looks like this:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, d:\downloads

Its a good idea to do this with a shortcut rather than the windows explorer program itself.

Cheers,

I had all the switches right, but I forgot the commas between them...
