View Full Version : So long, ZFree - It's been great.

01-05-2002, 09:13 PM
I'd just like to publicly express my gratitude to the people behind ZFree for providing me with a free internet service for such a long time.

It took me from an absolute beginner on the internet to the (cough) power-user you see before you now (those of you with web cams).

Now I have to pay for my internet, but at least I know how to use it efficiently and what it can do for me.

They say there's no such thing as a free lunch, but I've had my fill, and then some.

So thanks again, ZFree.

It's been great.

It has been good, hasn't it. I switched back to Clear... they obviously haven't taken on ZFree's hardware, even though they took many of their customers... I've been getting busy signals most of today :)

Yep. Gotta agree with that. ZFree was great. When it first started, I thought it would be slow & full of ads.

To my surprise, it was very good. Helped a lot of us get started on the 'net.

The recommended replacement, ClearNet, is $14.95 per month for 150 hours, or $29.95 per month unlimited.

But I went with Slingshot (i4free's replacement).
$14.95 per month unlimited & I connect first time every time.

Guys, just dont try Watchdog, nothing but problems. No answer, server not assigning IP addresses, the list goes on. We get DSL this week!

Why would you even consider Watchdog unless it is for a business/school/little people.

Re ClearNet.

If you are prepared to pay one year in advance, the cost is $249.50pa for unlimited access. (equates to $20.80 per month if you ignore interest lost on outlay)

I paid in August last year, I guess it is still available.

Cheers.

Well, we signed up with them at least 2 years ago, when i was turning 13....but now as we now don't try going to certain sites ;) and are heavy users of the net we are dumping watchdog and going for Xtra DSL JetStart

JM, how do E3 compare with zFree? Same speed/slower/faster? Busy signals?

What plan are you on?

E3 and Slingshot are the same company.
At different price tags.
