What is the best free program(non eval. ver.) to handle zip files, as Our HDD got wiped & I forgot what program I had?

It is for evaluation, but you can evaluate it for a very long time!

Try Zip&Go. It's freeware.
It does everything i need it to.

I use power archiver, its a winzip rip off, but it opens more formats.

Its currently shareware, but the versions before v7 were freeware if you don't like being nagged.

As you can see, there are quite a few free zip/unzip programs. The one I like is CamUnzip from:

PowerDesk is an Explorer replacement that you can view zip files as folders and has a better find utility as well as a lot of other things. Is free but if you want to pay for one zipmagic is also made by Ontrack. There is also a paid pro version of powerdesk
