I've bought a new comp w/WinXP. I want to re-format my old 95b comp to get rid of all the problems, conflicts, lock-ups, crashes and registry problems before I give it to a family member. Can't remember how to do it, it's been a while, what do I do, I have re-boot disk & cabs are on separate drive.

www.cybernet.net

Follow the above link and on there home page at the top left will be a box with various help links, one of them is reformat and reinstall. Follow the links to there other pages and print out, it is a easy to follow guide.

Remember !!!!! before you start reformatting and reinstalling that you back up all your data and addresses etc and make sure you have all your various driver disks handy as they will be required at various times during the process.

i think the most difficult thing about formatting and rebuilding a system if you use outlook express is saving your settings, addy book, etc. Best resourse i have found for guiding you through this excrusiating task is jan/feb2002 copy of NZ's own 'internet' magazine.. if you value those settings, read this, otherwise you can just copy your message store and rebuild your adress book from that.
