I'm trying to find what makes my computer start up (light blinking...hard drive working)after its been own for about 5 minutes. I've just installed the latest office software.Would any of these programs be causing it.?How do you find out what software/hardware is causing this?
Thanks

Get rid of 'find fast' If not sure how to do this, do a search of this site (F1) Bye

To stop Find Fast working, remove it from the \start\programs\startup folder and then open Control Panel\Find Fast. Delete the Find Fast database and shut down & reboot the system. (May be slightly different on some systems)

Restart in safe mode..Press F8 before windows load and choose safe mode... When this has loaded DEFRAG your hard drive ,,Start/programs/accessories/system tools..
This would speed up your hard drive access times if it has not been done for ages..It should be done atleast once a month and will take from 10 to 2 hours depending on your size of hard drive/ cpu/ ram
