Hi I'm a preesF1 newbie have installed a duron 1 Ghz running windows 98 SE my powermanagment settings power down monitor and hard drive but i can still here cpu fan has my cpu powered down and its normal for this speed cpu to run fan due to temperature dropping to quick, i am concerned with cpu temp as VIA HMonitor reports 45 .C when idle

As far as I am aware, the CPU is never put into a sleep or low state, so the fan must always run. Can't help on temp. My beast is not that modern!!

you do not want the cpu fan to turn off even in suspend mode.

as far as temps go what is idle temp, load temp and case temp?

What motherboard are you using? Different motherboards measure temperature differently.

heh heh, this is where you see the difference between intel and AMD cpus. My 1GHz P3 fan turns off in suspend. Now if I could only aquire a case fan that runs off a motherboard header I could actually shut the damn thing up completely.... ;)
