View Full Version : Netscape ghost??

Sometimes when I close Netscape (4.72) and disssconnect from the Internet It automatically redials. I have tracked this down to what seems to be a ghost version of netscape running in the background (not showing on the task bar) and can only shut it down by pressing ctrl/alt/del and using the task manager. Ok I can stop the autoredial by deselecting 'connect automatically' in my Internet setings but it's a pain in the preverbial. Anyone know what/how/why this is occuring and how to stop it??
Thanks in advance for any help.

I haven't heard of Netscape re-dialling, but the phantom you mention is well known for causing another couple of problems. If you find Netscape gets unbelieveably slow, or hyperlinks won't respond to a click (although they can be right-clicked and opened in another window), exit Netscape, kill off the Phantom with <ctrl+alt+del> and restart.

You may find the dialling is being called by some spyware.
