View Full Version : Exploring in Windows XP, HELP!

Hi, I'm a newbe to Press F1, and I am a power user. (I recently unlocked my multiplier on my AMD XP CPU, is anyone here game to do that?).

anyway, my problem is this:

I have been using win98se for about 2 and a half years, and I love it, but after my recent upgrade's it's starting to 'feel' a bit slow, time for winxp.

There is this great feature in win98se, go to folder options, click on the file types tab, double click 'folder' set explore as default and bingo, when you double click my computer it explore's.

However, when I changed to XP I found that this doesn't work, ok sure the explorer window comes up, but when you double click on a folder in the right hand folder view, the folder will open in a new window, WHAT THE FFFF!!!

No matter what I do, I can't seem to get it to work, can anyone help me? this annoyed me so much I reinstalled win98se!

(and yes I selected the option 'open each folder in the same window' it didn't work).

Thanks in advance.

Unlocking your AMD XP does not prove that you are a power user.

I'd unlock one if I had one. So would SY.

PS. What have you got it overclocked to?

I was a bit dissapointed really, before I unlocked the multiplier I could OC from 1466 to 1595 stable (145 fsb) the highest I can run stable is 1610 (140 fsb, 11.5 multiplier) although I have seen a post at 1755, I ran it at 1667 for 2 days straight with prime 95, no errors, but it was a little flaky, explorer and outlook would crash, need more voltage.
someone told me you have to burn in the CPU for a couple of weeks, then maybe it will OC a bit further. (he had this experience with an xp2000).
