View Full Version : I Can't Change My Homepage!

29-03-2002, 12:07 AM
I have a very frustrating problem in that a porno site has made itself my home page.

All attempts to change or reset it have failed.

I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with my ISP helpdesk and they had to admit defeat as well.

Short of reformatting my whole hard disk, does anyone have any ideas?

I am willing to try almost anything to get rid of it.

run msconfig, and check your start up tab thingy.. I suspect you will have an annoying extra progamme sitting there, changing your homepage back for you.

I got told of a page which will help you make sense of what you find in there, and decide if you really want/need it!

How have you explained the new start page to your wife and kids?

Not sure if this will work, but download RegClean (from www.downloads.com ) and run that. Remove anything with the name of the webpage(s) you are trying to get rid of. Please be careful when using. It has a backup facility but you can't be too overcautious when playing with registry. Also 'Adaware' is another must have programme (free from downloads.com) to get rid of spyware I can almost guarantee you will have.
Also might pay to check Dial up Networking (my computer>dial up networking) You should only have 'make new connection' and 'your ISP(s)' icons there. Anything else is a new 'dialer' created by Porn site. Just delete and also be scared about your next phone bill. There will be international calls to little known places around the African nations.
Bye

Also try 'Spider' Very effective at cleaning out, but not too controllable.
