View Full Version : Windows2000 Prof as VPN server

I have been attempting to set up without success, a Windows 2000 Professional PC as a VPN server via PPTP. Routing of static public IP to the designated PC is through a 3COM 812 router using port 1723.Dial-in PCs are either on Windows 98SE or Win2K Prof.
Literature from Microsoft invariably assumes the use of Windows 2000 Server for the purpose. Yet interface on the Professional seems to allow it.
I would be grateful to hear from anyone with favourable experience using W2K Prof. Thanks

Hi Gary, you will also need to map Protocol 47 in addition to TCP port 1723 to the win 2K pro computer. The following article may also help you:
