View Full Version : Safe to replace OE5 with OE6?

Hi ya all,

I have just updated to XP Pro but it loaded OE5. I was using OE6 before. Question: If I instal OE6 now, do I have to backup all my .dbx files first, or will it instal without changing .dbx files and folders?

Cheers.

I would be inclined to backup the favourites and dbx files anyway, call me paraniod but these are computers we are dealing with and it is when you don't do something that it will happen.

In my experience of updating oe/ie5 to 6, as mentioned above I always backup anyway but to date it has copied all the files from the old version to the new without any problems.

When backing up the address book I am also inclined to copy and paste all the addresses to a floppy where they are saved as vcf files, at least you have a 2nd backup should for some reason you cannot import your address book back in.

If your using McAfee virus scan 4.50 you will have problems. You will have to update the virus scanner to 4.51 or 6.1
