I have a Fujitsu 10GB hard drive, it was working fine til about 2 weeks ago when suddenly it didn't show up when i booted my computer. All I see is a bunch of garbled lettering and numbers and the PC continues to boot from my primary disk. I've tried Partiton Magic 6 to fix the problem but it didn't help as it could not pick up the drive. I also tried the fdisk /mbr command after booting from a DOS disk as I thought the MBR was trashed by a virus but that didn't work either. The drive itself powers up and works fine there are no funny sounds or noises. What do you think is wrong? Is there any way to fix it or has my drive had hit.

You could try 'fdisk' from your boot disk.

If that doesn't see it, then it's probably had it.

Can the bios see it in 'auto detect'

The fact that it sees garbled letters and numbers, leaves some hope.

I presume simply things like primary slave, is on in the bios.

Check the IDE cable isn't damaged, I just had a similar problem with my cd drives.

It was caused by a crappy dick smith IDE cable I bought coming apart at the plug.
