Recently my HD almost crashed for some unkonwn reasons. After formatting it, I had to load the original Win 95 OS. I am using a Philips SVGA Monitor. But after the OS reloading, what I get is only 16 colours from the Monitor!!
The screen looks like an ages old photograph!

Could someone help me to find an a solution to this or tell me what should have happened.

Ironically, in the Win 95, I couldn't find PHILIPS listed in the monitor manufacturers' list! So my efforts to delete the 'unknown' or 'standard' type monitor to Philips failed.

I would really appreciate your help.

Presume you went through the Start, Settings, Display, Settings screen. 16, 256,16bit.

Your best bet is to go to www.driverguide.com and download the Philips driver for your monitor. There is a simple registration, or just use the username 'drivers', and the password 'all', its the same for everyone.

The problem isn't the monitor it's your graphics card. Find out what make/model it is and install the correct driver for it.
