View Full Version : CPU overclocking?

Just recently been getting into this, but I was wondering how does one over clock a CPU, is this done via Bioss?, and what are the pro's and cons?

It's just I'm thinking of over clocking a few CPU's, firstly:

My PIII 733mhz on an Iwill VA133 motherboard.
A Celron 600Mhz (not sure of board).
And a P200mhz (not sure of this board either).

Any ideas/suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

It all depends. Some boards don't allow overclocking while others do. Some via jumpers or dip switches, others can be done through the bios. There is always an element of risk when overclocking because you will be running parts at a higher speed than they were designed for.

Thanks for that. I'll be checking out these sites when I get home (I'm at work right now).

However do you have an idea as to how far I could stretch a PIII 733, or a P200mhz?

Cheers,

Daniel

SY is the local oracle on overclocking and temperature control. He may spot this, but he's been fighting fires lately.
