Hi I have a friend who asked me, He is manager of a network of computers using Windows 95, 98, is there a program to keep a eye on his workers (by computer history) to make they are working hard and not getting up to mischief?

I suppose you could see it as a good program without the program, workers might not be able to go on Internet, Maybe I should post this question on the Government web site, I found out this week they have it and I believe it works good.

Their is plenty of snoopware which is what I think it's known as.

Have a search for Snoopware you should get a few hits back.

There have been a few articles in PC World over the last 12 months or so, try a search there.

Some people say they find that if they treat their staff as responsible adults, they behave as responsible adults. If they're treated like naughty children ... modern management techniques get their just reward.

There are a variety of software to log activities at the gateway and also at the desktop.

I use Webmarshal to log and also prevent site visits on the Internet Gateway/Proxy server. Webmarshal do not have site list database so its quite a pain updating the list. www.mailmarshal.com

I use Cybersitter to log and also prevent site visit at the desktop itself. It has a site database subscription. Cybersitter has a couple of nifty features I like - redirect porn site request to safe site, eg wwf.com or savethepanda.com. It also emails the users site visit log to the manager each day/week (configurable). Makes you think twice before going to a porn site.
