Is there an alternative program to the Windows Media Player. If so, where can I download it.

Thanks

Winamp (www.winamp.com) will handle most audio formats (esp. mp3s).

If your running Windows Media Player 7, consider going back to 6.4 (for videos etc), its much faster and still plays all the media player formats.

If you upgraded to 7, its still installed on you system, a search for 'mplayer2.exe' will find it.

i'd recomend apple quicktime great for video formats and not quite as good as winamp for audio.

There are heaps of media players around. Something I find annoying with eg Win Media player or Musicmatch Jukebox is that they are rather heavy on resources. Win media in particular can grind along at times. I use Irfanview - yes its a graphics viewer, but the latest version plays mp3s, quictime, wma etc. Its lean on resources and flicks between songs without having to wait an eternity:

In Win Media you can remove some of the crap to reduce it back to a 6.4 style look, cannot quite remember how now.
Sonique and winamp are both very good free players as well.

I've tried tonnes of them.

The one I'm still using is a free and skinable prog called UltraPlayer

another possibility is power dvd 3.0, not sure where you can get a free copy, but i got mine bundled with my dvd. It is v.g for video, but v.long divX avi vids eg downloaded rubbish quality movies dont play well, but the same quality music vids are all good. plays dvd's better than most too.
