View Full Version : HELP - XP PRO SHARING PROBLEM

10-02-2002, 01:04 PM
I just upgraded my two computers to XP PRO. I upgraded them both from Windows ME. I had them networked for file sharing. They were FAT 32 partitions. After I upgraded to XP the networking worked but now as i've converted them to NTFS i can view the drive but no longer go into some of the files and folders. What can I do? any help appreciated.

What folders do you not have access to, are they network folders or folders on the local hard drives?

Have you enabled file sharing on the folders you want to see?

What messages do you get when you try to go into the folders?

You will need to share the folders that you wish to access across the network. The default share permission should be 'everyone' having full access. Also check the NTFS permissions. Finally, each machine will need to have the same users/ passwords on them in order to correctly authenticate access to networked resources.
