Curiosity question.
Both these are the same physical size. so what is inside that apparently makes USB3 better? Thanks. PJ

OK OK I will pop down to he nearest Primary school, PJ Have a read of the link posted from Terry #5, that explains it in detail. The further down the page you go the more in-depth and technical it gets.

Short version - USB 3 has more wires, if you look inside the ports, you'll see USB 3 has 5 contacts where as USB 2 only has 4.

USB 3.0 has 9 contacts :) 5 are easy to see right away the others not so easy. I may have written that wrong before, USB 3 has extra contacts. Depends on how technical you want to get. ;)

I have a 9yr old system still holding out until it gets to 10yrs. USB2.0 I do not use cos too slow for backups. I use eSATA. You're talking about 1hr for USB3 and maybe something like 5 or 6hrs with USB2.0.
