View Full Version : problems with windows 10 Netflix app and app store

I have had issues with the Netflix app and windows store on one PC for months but just avoided using them until now. However I do prefer the Netflix app to the browser version so I'd like to make it work.
Netflix just closes itself before I can do anything and the store mostly works but also occasionally closes randomly. I was kinda hoping an update would fix it but I've given up on that, the creators update just installed and made no difference.
curiously the weather app works perfectly.

I tried the built in app diagnostic tool and it found issues with the registry and the cache, it only fixed the registry issue automatically.
I tried manually fixing the cache - it resists all my attempts and stubbornly remains damaged/missing - tried all this https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-windows-store-cache-may-be-damaged-in-windows-10
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app
I have run SFC /Scannow
I have run a couple other commands I forget - one to re -register the app store and another DISM something or other
I can't use system restore because the problem goes back too far
I also tried changing region settings after one poster said changing from his country to the US fixed a similar issue

And I created a new local user account - this one works perfectly with Netflix but it seems I have to reinstall all my added programs if I fix it this way. I'm thinking I might have to delete the old account and either recreate it or convert the new local account to a live account using the same details again.

So sorry for the long post but my questions are:
Any more suggestions for fixes I can try?
If I delete my old account do all the installed programs etc get deleted with it or do I need to do some sort of cleanup to get rid of them?
Is there any way to move programs installed on one user account to another or do they have to be re-installed?

Luckily this PC doesn't have all that much on it, its main purpose in life is media streaming and Netflix so there's only a small handful of programs to deal with.

Deleted the old online account, changed the new account to be an online one using the same credentials, problem solved.

Spam? or just a pointless necro?

Either way thanks for suggesting the fix that worked 2 months after I used it and posted it here already :p
