Hi All.
On start up I keep getting the following message.

Windows Script Host.
Script: C:\JohnSurname\appdata\temp\CCAVinstaller.UBS
Line: 3
Char: 1
Error: The system cannot find the file specified.
Code: 80070002
Source: (nil)

How do I stop this Please. I assume the CCAV is either CCleaner or Avast. PJ

Hi All.

CCAVinstaller.UBS

Error: The system cannot find the file specified.

It may have been malware that was removed, but the registry entry still points to where it was

have a look here , but DONT click any of the links or download their software
http://www.exterminate-it.com/malpedia/file/ccavinstaller.vbs

is it .ubs or .vbs ??

run msconfig & see if its in the startup items, also look in ctrl panel, administrative tools, scheduled tasks

Found it in Task Scheduler showing Ready. Deleted it. Comp off & boot, still there. Ran Malwarebytes , comp off & teboot, still there. Ran CCleaner ditto & still there. What should I try next. PJ

It is indeed VBS NOT UBS

Persistent little **** huh.

Try:

JRT (Junk Removal Tool) - free.

Zemana (Trial) The trial will do.

as a last resort
run regedit
do a search for that filename , see where it finds it in the registry

be very carefull with registry :)

or better yet
download autoruns
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

try & find it with autoruns (its reasonably safe if you're careful)
