Every time I boot up the computer, (although I havent clicked on internet)the explorer automatically puts up an error message:

Explorer has caused an error in explorer. exeExplorer will now close.

I then just click the message off. I had explorer 5 but have updated to 6. This has made no difference. Please tell me what is wrong and what i can do. I run Windows ME with a 40 gig and 240 ram

This problem refers to Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer (two very similar but different programs).

To fix this problem try this: (you will need your Windows ME CD)

Click the 'Start' button, and then click on 'Run'.

Type 'msconfig' and press 'OK'.

In the new window that pops up, near the bottom, should be a button labelled 'Extract File'. Click this button.

A box should open that says 'Select the system file you want to restore'. Type in 'explorer.exe', and click 'Start'.

In the next box it'll ask you where to restore the file from. Browse to your Windows ME CD, and select the 'Win9x' folder (I think that's what its called). And in the 'Save file in' box, type 'C:\Windows' or browse to the Windows folder.

Now if you click OK it should find explorer.exe from your Windows CD and restore it.

If this od doesn't work, there may be some other problem going on.
