View Full Version : PUPMODE Values?

Is it possible that my audio problem in Puppy/Linux is from too low of a number in PUPMODE?

I don't actually understand the 'odd/even' numerical value differences but during installation, I was asked for a number between 5 and 77, so I picked 13, as it seemed good to me. That seems to force Puppy to operate almost entirely in RAM, and occasionally "SAVING" data in the hdd/sdba1.

What I think I understand - correct me please - is that if I use an uneven number, I also get an icon on the desktop.
An even number gets no icon. I am using an odd number, yet no icon.

Getting as small as PUPMODE 5 will not get any SAVES, which I don't think is a good idea, although it uses some extra area in the Puppy BOOT hdd - er, sdba1.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. This learning curve in Puppy - will it help in other distros?

I am having a good time in Zorian, and anticipating getting some of it under my belt, although Puppy and Zorian are yards/sillimeters apart in lingo.
