Reinstalling Win7 Pro 32 bit system to this very old laptop; installation went through OK but when running Windows update, Code 8007000E error pops up.

Have tried the suggestions by wainuitech in the other thread without success.

net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
exit

Any other suggestions?

Looks like that can mean the server is busy / overloaded. Wait a while then try again

I am using the install DVD with SP1.

You may find the update client is now to old so you need to install a newer one manually first, Scroll down the following page and select the right one for your install: ( Method 2) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3050265

Have a read of this article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Windows-Update-error-80070008-or-8007000e

Also make sure your time and date are correct.

Had this happen a few times where it was to far out and updates wouldn't work as the computer was trying to tell MS it was 2035 ( or something like that)

The last Windows 7 update I did was in 2010.
Download the correct drivers from the manufacturers. You can always switch on the updates later.

Can also try this:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3132
Had to do that on a few machines to get windows updates working.

Has MS stopped Win7 support?

No success with the laptop above.

I am running the Win7 update for my dual boot (Win7 & Win10) desktop. My last update was 27/06/2015.

It has been 'Checking for updates' for more than half an hour now and still checking ... or MS is also having their Easter holidays????

Did you install the latest Update installer that I posted before ?

Had it happen almost every time on a fresh install of W7, the newer updater has to be manually downloaded, it does come through as an update "IF" the updates work- catch 22 -- Cant download it because it wont download. :)

If you have installed it, rebooted then theres something else stopping it.

or MS is also having their Easter holidays Servers don't observe public holidays, they work 24/7-- And we think we are hard done by working long hours :D

wainuitech: I did download the the update as suggested and ran it but it says that it has been installed. I think I can forget about the update, after all ....

Thank you, anyway. Cheers.
