View Full Version : Modem locking up the telephone line when computer goes into suspend mode.

I have a HP Pavilion Celeron 266 computer with a conexant SoftK56 modem.
Some times when I disconnect from the Internet the modem sometimes does not release the telephone line. More often the telephone line appears to have been released however when the computer goes into suspend mode the modem locks up the telephone line ? when a telephone is picked up the line is just dead.
To free the line I have to either shut down the computer or unplug the computer from the telephone jack point.
I have check and rechecked all the modem and dial up settings and everything appears correct.
Any suggestions on the cause and possible solutions greatly appreciated.

Does your bios have a setting for Modem Ring On/Wake On Lan ?? It will be under power settings in your Bios. If it is enabled try disabling it.
