Just finished updating my other Win7 machine and noticed that there are now "5 Stages" rather than the old 3 Stages in configuring Windows updates!

MS is making their OS more complicating both for end users as well as MS themselves. :D

What are you referring to in Configuring Updates ?

They simply download, some require a reboot some don't, if they do require a reboot, there's no user interaction required, they simply do it, configure as designed and finish.

The manual update has not changed.

Well, I'm talking about those required a restart. True they don't really need any user input other than clicking on the restart button.

I just want to know why there are 5 stages rather than 3 stages (in the past) when Windows configure the updates. Just for my info, anyway.

Depends on the update requirements. Some do require more restarts than others.

On a W7 Workshop PC I updated earlier this week, there were some that only needed 1 restart others required 2 ( as they were configuring)
