I am not out looking for the chopper, best leave that to people who are trained in search and rescue.
Everyone here is very concerned of course, hopefully the pilot will be found safe and well.
The lack of a beacon signal suggests otherwise though. :(

The video of the river shows where I used to go whitebaiting, just upstream from the rapids that you can see, at around 1 minute into the vid.

I don't whitebait now as there are simply too many folk turning up here in the season and crowding the banks.

Besides, I think it is about time to end the tax free rort of selling endangered juvenile native fish on the black market (that will get me popular with the master-baiters, eh!)

Could be a useful tool for spotting lying trout?

Karamea is one of the best trout rivers around especially near the "bend" we used to get them with 8mm Mauser or 303. I have walked down to Karamea from Dads place its wild country made really wild by the 1929 Murchison earthquake.

I have kayaked parts of the Karamea, not anymore though my arms too stuffed to allow that sort of thing anymore

Most trout I have met are quite truthful.

Even politicians do not lie once they have done their last gaff ;)

Phil Gaff?

And of course the confusion of Daves.

Count me not amongst those.

I see they found the missing chopper though. If I still lived in Nelson I probably would have been on the search my friends were.

As Rex Forester said in his book Helicopters an accident waiting to happen. They sent ground searchers there? be a bit dangerous very steep.

Well, they make and use gaffes every day, but come the gaff they gasp no more. (In an ideal world this would occur within a matter of hours after the election.)
Gaff for trout sadly arrive through no fault of the fish, but after that they lie no more.
