thread closed and here i am motivated to fix it.

as per last post by speedy, here are the hardware IDs for unknown devices

SM Bus Controller

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&SUBSYS_1E221849
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&CC_0C0500
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&CC_0C05

Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E31&SUBSYS_1E311849&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E31&SUBSYS_1E311849
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E31&CC_0C0330

Go to the motherboard manufactures web site, locate the board download and install the chipset drivers.

99% of the time the error "SM Bus Controller" and the other faults means they are either corrupted or not installed.

Once you put those in the card reader should auto detect and install.

The ACPI one. This maybe Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology. Get this off the mobo makers site or Intel site

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E31&SUBSYS_1E311849&REV_04 is Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller, the one under USB

SMB will be chipset drivers

unkown device installed successfully though windows update

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H77M-ITX/?cat=Download&os=Win764

which driver is SMB?

i look forward to the windows 9 beta

should be released free as 8.2 though tbh.

We just said what SMB was/is chipset drivers. You usually install the chipset drivers after installing windows

You'll prob need both INF Driver and intel Management Engine.

Had it happen countless times if you dont put in the Intel Management you'll still get unknown devices.

If you still get the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller unknown devices, install the USB drivers from there as well.

installed inf and ME, SM bus is still not functioning in the device manager

its either free or pirated, they might as well get the valuable feedback that pirates are not currently giving them.

free, microsoft
surely you jest
:) Actually its not in Jest. Theres a few rumors going around that MS may offer Windows 9 ( or Windows as it also may be called) Free to users who still have XP, Vista or W7 so they can upgrade to the newer OS. EXAMPLE (http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/microsoft-to-give-away-windows-9-for-free-to-vista-xp-users--1260160)

Back on Topic, download all the drivers for the motherboard, ( make sure 100% its the right board) as well as run windows updates.

What is meant by the comment
its either free or pirated ? are you referring to the OS ?

Interesting ...but

Chinese whispers.
The further in you follow the links to the original posts the less likely it all seems.
XP & vista never originally mentioned, that just got added to the rumour later
Other sites saying it MIGHT be free, or some version MIGHT be free, or available as a free update From Win8

More credible speculation is that it may be free(or very cheap) to those who buy Win8 PC's after or very near to Win9 release.
That would make sense. They did something similar with Win8
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/01/18/win8_upgrade_discounts_ending/

Heres where the rumour started. Anyone here speak russian ?

SM Bus Controller

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&SUBSYS_1E221849

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E22&CC_0C05

linux is free, windows OS is usually either pirated or included for free with hardware/job.

Errrrrrrrr not unless someone's being nice and giving a legit Windows away. When you buy components for a build, the OS is still charged for, its OEM.

OEM is NOT free. The only real free one is the 90 day trials.

As for the problem still, its defiantly the chipset problem. Did you install the USB drivers from Asrock as well ?

Other wise try these https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21129 If that doesn't work, on the right is a couple of links, select Intel Driver Update Utility. It will check for updates required.

Just a thought, did you install the LAN drivers as well ? Pays to install the drivers for the motherboard from the manufactures site, Windows doesn't always auto detect and install the right ones.

Mirddes

installed LAN and usb drivers already.

installing the ones from the intel website with the link provided.

i usually included linux and a 90 day trial of windows with the cheap computers a build.

if someone is paying a decent sum for a pc they can pay for windows and less headaches for me.

installing from the intel site resulted in unknown device coming into existence again.

Speedy Gonzales

Look on whatever site for the mobo drivers. The drivers should be there. If it's not Intel it maybe Asmedia 104x drivers , if youre looking for those USB 3 drivers

Or instead of using that java based thing youre using download the drivers then see if they work

Speedy Gonzales

See if this works here
(http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory=2&selFamily=2&selSeries=152&selProduct=7508&selShortMod=null&language=13&selOS=30&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=allMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=all&selectedLanguage=13&type=all&page=3&ID=82380&OSID=30&driverLanguage=42)

Extract this then go to the win7 \ x86 folder. Add them thru device manager under driver tab

Thats if whatever isnt installed is under the USB3 info you posted

Speedy Gonzales
25-09-2014, 05:08 PM
But really it shouldnt need drivers. Does it appear in the BIOS. or appear on the post screen?

Speedy Gonzales

Here's some reviews about it and maybe some fixes (http://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-RDCR-11003-74-In-1-3-5-Inch-Internal/product-reviews/B006DKEQL0/ref=dpx_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1)

See if windowsupdates picks up drivers for it

Speedy Gonzales

And what entries are still showing in device manager as having no driver? Since you've installed the other drivers?
