View Full Version : Webcam vs. USB/PCI card

I have an Acer DSC300 digital camera, and have used it before on a WinMe based computer without trouble. However, I recently bought a USB-PCI card in order to use the camera on an older, Win98 based computer. When I try to use the camera in its webcam mode, or to download photos to the computer, it gives an error, usually a blue screen type, then refuses to work. I have tried ther original, and updated drivers for the camera, and am beginning to suspect the USB/PCI card. Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem?

How much older is this older computer? Maybe the older PC just can't handle the webcam.

Are all the USB drivers loaded correctly?

The PC is a P166 with 80MB Ram. As far as I know it should be able to run the camera, there just seems to be an error in the drivers somewhere. The USB card virtually set itself up automatically, using drivers from Win98. I haven't any other USB devices to test it with.
