Hi All. I am sure this, above, has been asked before...but.

We are getting a free trip to Napier for a few days. The motel has Free internet. How do we connect to that? Same as we do here at home? A lead into the phone socket? Thanks. PJ

Hi PJ, Normally when you arrive at the motel you would ask for the WiFi password at the front reception desk then just enter the username and password in to the logon window that pops up.

Hotel/motel wifi doesn't usually require a plug in socket - hense the "wireless" part of wifi. The motel will most likely have a wireless router/routers located at various points around the building

Just a word of warning. As you will effectively be using a "public" Wifi spot, don'y don't use it for any financial transactions or anywhere that you might make an online purchase as it is this type of wifi network that is most suceptable to hacking.

If it's passworded and encrypted it will be safer than an open one, where anyone with the right software can simply listen to all your packets as they fly through the air... But I would not want to do much on any public WiFi network. Someone else who is connected could also launch attacks directly at your machine.
