I've originally got Win8 Pro, then upgraded (free) to Win8.1 Pro; and recently downloaded and installed Update 1, the update went through smoothly (I thought).

Just checked the Windows Systems, it still shows Win8.1, not Win8.1.1 as shown below:

5682

Is this correct? Or, something has gone wrong with my update process?

And another update came out the other day ( - well it did here, KB2919355), it'll install things it missed last time Its the same update that came out a while back, ( leaked & on TechNet /MSDN) if a person already installed it you get the message saying its already installed, same KB number as well. :)

Yes mine is the same. You can always have a look in Windows Update to see what has been installed if you really want to know what has been installed.

Must be some sort of "patch - Extra" as its only 129MB where as the original is close to 700MB. If you manually try to download it and install it wont. just doing a fresh install of 8.1.1 right now, DVD from TechNet and its suddenly shown up but not selected by default.

There is some info on this "double-up".

5.Windows Update may offer update 2919355 again even when the computer already have update 2919355 installed. This is expected and is in order to resolve a Windows Update client issue. Windows Update only installs the additional fixes for Windows Update clients instead of all the Windows 8.1 update packages.

this is expected on the full ISO download too
