View Full Version : Using RJ45 and BNC on network card at the time?

Hi,
My network cards got both BNC and RJ45 slots. Currently my 2 computers are hooked up using the BNC connections (yea I know it's slow...) and got both on the net at the same time.

But this leaves me with a free RJ45 slots on both cards. Now if I get an external ADSL router modem, can I plug it in one of the network card's RJ45 slot, setup the computer as server, and have both computer on the net using ADSL?

My friend runs a BNC network and when he tried to plug-in an RJ-45 connection it wouldn't allow him to access the BNC network at the same time. It just disappeared. I'm not sure if it was just what he was doing, but maybe you cant add a router either?

Sorry you cant use both ports at once, if you want to allow more than one pc to use a adsl router you need a hub or a switch.

You would plus the router and all the pc's into the hub or switch and set the default gateway on all the pc's to the ip address of your adsl modem.
