View Full Version : "A compatable printer for Cd media was not found" Pixma iP3000 & Win-8 problem

14-03-2014, 03:50 PM
After installing my Canon Pixma iP3000 printer on Win-8 I get "a compatable printer for CD media was not found" message.

I downloaded an update driver and can print onto paper okay but get the above message when I try to print on a CD/DVD.

The files I previously created and used with Win XP are .cld files.

Can anyone help please?

I've not been able to locate one apart from the driver update to enable me to print onto paper.

Looks like others have had the same prob with the same printer. Someone said CD label print should work. Download it for Win7 / 7 x64.

Look under software, goes to up to 8.1http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_ip_series/pixma_ip3000#DriversAndSoftware Easy Photo Print:
Use this optional software to easily create & print your own albums, calendar, stickers, and CD-ROM labels using your own images.

Thank you wainuitech

It would appear that my printer is the problem. I tried the software you suggested without success and I had this reply from Canon:

"With reference to your enquiry in regards to your Canon PIXMA iP3000 and the Canon CD-LabelPrint.

We would like to inform you, that the Canon CD-LabelPrint version for your device is 1.4.1, but this version is not compatible with your operating system. Unfortunately there's no version of Canon CD-LabelPrint for your device which is also compatibile with Windows 8.

Once again, thank you for contacting Canon."

Is there a freeware option for printing onto DVDs with my printer?

Ashampoo burning studio 2014 says it can. There was a free giveaway of the software a while back. If you want to try it let me know and I can give you the code and install file.

Cant try it, as I do have a couple of printable CD's someplace, I dont think they will go around the paper rollers to well :D

Edited: Here you go, go to the following page and scrolldown to "Alternative Offer [Updated on February 16, 2014]:" theres a link. http://www.mostiwant.com/blog/ashampoo-burning-studio-2014-free-full-version-serial-key/ look for the wording Promo page ( below the smilie face) or http://www.ashampoo.com/uk/gbp/lpa/computeractive

Edit 2: This is installed on Windows 8.1.1 If you install it, just look at each page, from memory it asks to install some third party program which you simply click NO. SEE FIRST LINK, shows the install pages and what to select.
