With ctrl/alt/del in xp it opens up Apps & Proc`s, I have 41 running proc`s, in ME I had 4 or 5, I know how to get into the start up menu, but am confused with the Apps part, I don`t fancy going through ctrl/alt/del that many times. Can i safely stop most of these proc`s on start up, if you see what i mean.

The task manager in XP has been adopted from Win NT. It has the advantage that it shows all the processes (such as Winlogon.exe and Services.exe) and programs runing in the background. These processes were present in Windows 9.x but the task manager did not display them.

To stop some of these programs / services loading on startup remove items from the startup menu. Then run msconfig (Click Start , click Run , type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK), on the General tab, click Selective Startup , and then clear all of the subsequent check boxes.
