View Full Version : 'Cutting' large .avi files into CD-sized pieces

I've downloaded a 900MB .avi file from edonkey, and would now like to cut it into parts to fit onto CD-R's.
Anyone know of any programs that can do this?
Thanks,

Chris.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I guess it would, but the idea was to free up hard-drive space and be able to watch the file straight off the CD's

What's the movie? :-)

Just search for 'avi splitter' in a search engine such as google, and take your pick. Otherwise, try dvd.box.sk . If you plan to watch the movie on your DVD/VCD player, ensure the avi file is VCD compliant.

Included somewhere in the MS Office 97 CD (dont know about other releases) is a program called MSScreenCam which basically captures screen toings and froings.

It creates AVI files as a result which are quite large. BUT comes with a neat executable distribution package which shrinks the file to around 1/10th the size and can then be watched directly from the reduced file.

Don't know if your AVI will be compatible but worth a thought....

Thanks to those that took the time to reply. Been busy what with the end of year rush, but will have a go at some of these suggestions this weekend.

Cheers,

Chris.
