Hi All
My MBP died and I'm looking to get it fixed so my son can use it for a while. Most likely GPU as it still is starting up 25% of the way.
Is there anyone here who does or knows of any affordable repairs around top of the South or Wellington?
Thanks :-)

If its a design fault, you may have to replace the whole mobo. If it's got an 8600M GT GPU in it this may have applied before (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377)

More info about the faulty 8600M GT GPU'S here (http://arstechnica.com/apple/2008/10/apple-nvidia-chips-to-blame-for-macbook-pro-video-problems/)

Speedy, thanks. I have seen those pages when I did go through the web to do a symptoms based search. Found one shop on TM which is wanting 1150+gst to replace the LB. I think that is a bit much.

Try somewhere like Ebay. If you know what the exact part number is for the mobo, it maybe cheaper than trying to buy it off TM / in NZ.

It's where I decided to go, (ebay.com.au) when I replaced the keyboard on the netbook here (the home keys were dead). It was a lot cheaper than the place that sells HP parts here
