Hey,

Exchange: 2003
Mailbox Size: 60gb
Number of Sent Items: 4.5 million (99.9%)

So far anything that I've connected to it has taken the server down and needed a restart :)

ExMerge, Outlook 2003 to 2010 (Exchange and IMAP), Webmail...

Nothing seems to be able to deal with those 4.5 million Sent Items. And I need to delete everything in Sent Items that is over 6 months old.

Any (sensible) ideas welcome!

No idea if this will work but what about setting mailbox manger to delete the Sent items? You may have to do a "few" at a time and change the rules to suit.

Found two articles, one is from Exchange 2000 the other from Exchange 2003. Dont normally deal with exchange, but looks like its a possibility>

Two articles: exchange-server-2000/management (http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2000/management-administration/MF012.html) and 2003 Settings (http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2005/03/21/399807.aspx) :2cents:
