View Full Version : IE6 Problems opening windows

I am running IE6 on an XP system. All was working fine until I installed and used a trial version of evidence eliminator (v5.054 which I later found was not recommended for XP!). Ever since I have been having minor problems with IE. It starts off fine new windows will open and pop ups will load. After about three to four pop ups and new windows new window frames opens but will not load. If I close the window a message box says the window is busy do I want to close. If I click yes the window will close. This occurs with both links I have clicked and unsolicited pop ups. I have removed evidence eliminator and it seems more than likely that this may have deleted something it should not have. Would I be correct?. I was going to remove and reinstall IE6 but I need some help on how to do this. If I go to start/add+remove programmes both IE6 and Outlook are not listed. So how do I delete them? Or is it safe to reinstall over top of what is there?. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Evidence eliminator? Not sure I want to know what that is for.

Are you sure the windows aren't just coming up from dodgy sites you are visiting? Or perhaps you've been infested with something.

Did you uninstall evidence eliminator?

If you go to add/remove programs are you sure there is no entry for Microsoft IE and Internet Tools.
Open this and you will find a repair option or a revert back to a previous installed version option.

If not you may just have to try reinstalling over the top.

If you are using XP, why dont you just use the system restore function to a point previous to the install you made, this should fix any problems
