I am guessing there is no password protection feature avilable when using the Windows 7 built in zipping utility.
If there is a way then i would appreciate any help

If I resort to third party tool like WinZip or WinRAR to zip a file and put a password on it, then will it open fine on say a MacOS or iPad running iOS device
that does nothave those utility, as long I provide the password to the other party ?

Thanks

Given how easy the passwords are to brute-force, I personally wouldn't bother...

I agree, zip file passwords are pathetic.

But i just need to do a one of transfer of a file to skydrive and then have someone download it from Sky drive o ntheir PC

I just wanted to add a layer of security since that PC to which it will be downloaded to is a shared PC between 2 users.

They'll still be extracting it on said shared-PC though yeah? So I wouldn't worry...

7-Zip is free and will do it, I'm sure it's secure enough to keep out the average user despite the concerns mentioned above.
Of course I have no need to secure anything I send so this is all theoretical
