Hi all,
I have an ASUS GX950 optical mouse and my current gaming surface is not very good for precession head shots when in FPS games.
I'd like something that provides my mouse a fast response and good accuracy. Not too fussy about comfort.

Maybe you guys know of something I could use. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance. :)

I like big mouse pads so I have a steel series wow themed one and an everglide titan, both are awesome.

What is it like to use?
Do you know what the Razor ones are like?

Haven't tried razor. Mine is a smooth fabric finish and tracks very well.

I have a Steelseries QcK and a Razer Goliathus, and they're both very good. To me they feel like very similar construction and material, and I can't really tell the difference between them in use, except that the Goliathus I have is larger than the QcK I have.

Ok thanks, is there any smaller mouse pads as I don't have much space on my keyboard pull out shelf.

the QcK is available in a mini size, which is actually the one I have. It's somewhat smaller than A4 size (250mmx210mm). The Goliathus is available in a small size, too, but it is still slightly larger than the QcK mini at 270mmx215mm. I have the medium Goliathus Control (254mmx355mm) and small Goliathus Speed. All three appear to be the same thickness. The Control is a slightly rougher texture on the surface than the Speed or QcK, though not substantially imo. As above, I've not really been able to tell the difference. All are very good, and all offer significantly better tracking than either my desk surface, an A4 piece of paper taped to the desk, or an older wetsuit-and-cotton type mousepad I had sitting around.

I have this which came before the Goliathus range and works great.

I also have a plastic textured ratpad that I've had so long I've worn it smooth. I dunno if you can still get those in NZ but it's been really good. It is rectangular except the bottom edge is curved to clear your hand, It's just a little small for me. They even used to say you could throw it in the dishwasher but they've since decided maybe not the best Idea :) http://www.ratpadz.com/

I don't now how you can stand a pull out keyboard shelf, I hate them. I need some space around my keyboard and mouse to be comfortable and I don't like the height of those either. One thing that has consistantly gotten bigger over the years is my computer desk :)

So many options. I wouldn't know which one to pick. I may head down the Razor path to match my headset. :)

And dugi, the keyboard shelf thing is only good when I need to do homework. Other than that, it is a bit annoying.

What is the advantage of a big mouse pad when you are using a high DPI?

It's personal preference, I don't like my mouse too sensitive as I find it harder to aim accurately. There's a personal trade off between speed and accuracy that's different for everyone.
So at the sensitivity settings I use I end up using about as much mouse pad as the small cheapies but I don't like getting close to the edges and I don't like having to pick the mouse up and recentre it if it wanders a bit off centre to the pad so I prefer larger pads.
Also in the heat of battle it's not too difficult to overdo it and move right off the edge of a small pad.

Also although I game on a single screen I use dual screen for everything else and bigger screen area = larger mouse movements.

Ended up getting a Steel Series Qck mini. I'm very happy with it.
I couldn't make my mind up whether to get a Razer goliathus control or speed. There a mixed reveiws on the topic so I just went with the Qck.

I use a medium sized razer goliathus (control edition). tracks well and has a nice fabric finnish. I use the control edition because I hate having mouse acceleration and combined with high dpi its somewhat necessary, unless you played alot of fps.
