Seems odd but i cant find a screen that matches my relatively basic criteria - at least via price spy (which is relatively reliable).

27"
IPS
vesa mount
hdvi input
sub $600

the closet is the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM $849.00

Am i missing something?

You're right.... heaps around but not with VESA mounts. Weird...

Wait, here you go.

Same thing from CL. They don't list it as being VESA compatible but it is according to Dell. Nice looking screen for the price, as long as you don't mind glossy.

Try the viewsonic's, on the right are the features, run through and select the ones you want and it will give you options.

Viewsonic Site (http://www.viewsonic.com.au/products/lcd/VP2770-LED.php?f_cat=lcd&f_size=25-&f_series=&f_features%5B%5D=2&f_features%5B%5D=1&f_features%5B%5D=4&f_features%5B%5D=10&f_features%5B%5D=12)

thank you both, but the search continues.

the only matching viewsonic is $993

the dell has some harsh reviews regarding how glossy it is. pity its otherwise perfect

General Rule of thumb is, larger the screen, higher the Spec's = Higher the price. Sub $600 may be impossible for the spec's.

Depending on the model you were referring to in the Viewsonic's, the one linked ( VP2770) I looked at the dealers price excluding gst, thats way over your Sub $600

I've used a few of those Dell screens, and they look amazing, but in reality if you have a window or a light behind it, you're probably going to be frustrated by the reflections.

Thanks for the input, i'm just going to have to bite the bullet and spend more. It seems a vesa mount has become a luxury item, expensive for 4 holes.

I'm going to buy ASUS PB278Q
if any one cares ;-)

This is your cheapest option: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Perfect-Pixels-Matte-QNIX-QX2710-LED-Evolution-ll-27-LED-Monitor-2560x1440-/321115357309?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item4ac3f7807d (not sure if QNIX does VESA mounts or not)

You will be hard placed to find a 27"IPS panel for under $600, as a 24"IPS is over 450-500

I have a Dell Ultrasharp U2410 - a matte screen. Mine was $900. 24". Bite the bullet to get something with wider color gamut for photography.

Yeah - the main issue is the VESA mounts. Everyone seems to have gone away from them.
