I am running Win XP, and contemplating a change to Win 7. I have run Windows 7 upgrade advisor which points to a problem with Partition Magic ver 8. My Hdd is partitioned to about 10 partitions, largely for 4 organisations that my wife and I are involved in, some with several positions. Apparently Symantec now own Partition Magic, and dont sell it or at least haven't upgraded beyond v8, which apparently won't work with Win7. Is there an alternative, or will win 7 cope?

Depends on what you want to do with the partitions - Windows 7 can handle basic resize operations, but for much more than that you'll need something else - GParted for a boot disc or EASEUS Partition Manager are good :)

People still use Partition Magic.?? For the past few years I've been using the free version of EASEUS Partition Master 9.1.0 Home Edition

A freeware I recently used to re-size and move partitions on my HDD with Win 7 was Aomei Partition Assistant. It will run from within Windows, or from a bootable CD which is a very useful option. Other (Windows) free partition managers seldom allow a boot CD to be made, you have to get the paid versions.
