Hi all,
So I was just casually using my computer, Just watching some YouTube videos when I got a blue screen. On restart the computer went through a strange process which said "Recovering orphaned files." It took around 5 minutes. When I got to my desktop I decided to turn off the "Launch on startup" feature on some of my programs as they were very annoying when I booted my computer and I had all of these messages popping into my face. The process of turning off these programs involved running
"msconfig.exe" When I attempt to launch it I get an error message:"C:\Windows\system32\msconfig.exe The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." I get that message when I attemp to open a lot off programs, most of which are pre-installed programs. I couldn't get a screen shot because my paint wouldn't start!
Please help!
Thanks!

Just had another random blue screen error. Tried to get a picture of it with bluescreenview but it says it can't find anything! I still have the same problems as mentioned in my previous post.
Please help!

Look in event viewer for a crash entry. Disable auto restart so you can see what it says next time. What does bluescreenview say?? Whats the stop error and the file/driver? It looks like that message can appear if you've installed the wrong version of the Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x86 or x64) for a program. Or a program has installed it (and it maybe the wrong version for the program / or another program)

You may have to find out how to get the sxstrace.exe tool. It looks like it's in Win8. Dont know if it's on any other version of windows tho.

As it says in this link (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cesardelatorre/archive/2011/03/27/the-application-has-failed-to-start-because-its-side-by-side-configuration-is-incorrect-error-related-to-mmc-exe-programs-and-weird-cause-amp-simple-solution.aspx)

When I start my computer from shut down I get the following error: Networkz.exe-Application error. The instruction at 0x00407 cf9 referenced memory at 0x02a27050. the memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.

Hey speedy!
Bluescreenviewer says absolutely nothing. When I try to open event viewer I just get the error message: MMC has detected an error in a snap in-. It is recommended that you shut down and restart MMC.

And also I don't really understand what I'm supposed to do in the link you posted. Could you please explain?

Try downloading and install the following http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5638 Dont worry that its the 2005 version, it fixes a lot of side by side errors, where as the newer versions dont. :2cents:

I would find out where networkz.exe is for a start. And what it belongs to. Dont think its a windows file or program. If its in startup. Delete / disable its entry with ccleaner

Orphaned files will be to do with CHKDSK which ran after the first crash.

networkz.exe sounds like a virus, it may be what's causing the crashes.

Networkz.exe --- Are you sure thats spelt correctly ?

There are a few similar, Network.exe is a trojan,

Networx.exe is a internet monitor usage Application which is perfectly harmless.

You can't, you can only edit. A mod could delete them if you asked, though.

Computer just froze. I had to force shut down it. Maybe that's linked to the problem?

I'd be checking RAM (memtest) and the integrity of the file system on C: drive (chkdsk).

If the Memory tests as being OK, then its a faulty driver someplace. The fact that Windows ran through the orphaned files means theres corruption some place.

Just a few things you can try stop-badpoolcaller-0x000000c2-error-in.html (http://myfundoo-blog.blogspot.co.nz/2011/12/stop-badpoolcaller-0x000000c2-error-in.html)

The driver / file thats crashing is named in the crash Sftfslh.sys. Looks like its the Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) driver. This is Win7?? What Virtualization program is installed? I dont think this is part of Win7 is it?

Sftfslh.sys is also part of Office 2010, by any chance do you have Office 2010 starter edition installed ?

If so Office Starter creates a Virtual Drive usually labeled Q

Yes I do have it installed and I do have a virtual drive labeled Q. If I uninstall office started will it fix the problem? Because I'd happily use Google docs instead!

Well I just uninstalled Office starter with IObit uninstaller and did a check for left over files and deleted those. Restarted PC but the Q drive is still there and the problem persists.

Got another blue screen! Same error when checked bluescreenview! On startup I get message: Iastoricon has stopped working.

wainuitech
16-06-2013, 01:29 PM
Did you run chkdsk as advised by linw in Post #20 ?

Iastoricon is part of Intels Rapid Recovery Technology what-is-iastoricon (http://www.qwhatis.com/what-is-iastoricon/)

Since this crashed, obviously something went wrong big time and has caused lots of system damage by the looks, sometimes its easier ( and quicker) to back up any data if you haven't already and wipe the drive / Reinstall.

Did a scan recommended by a microsoft professional on their forums to fix some stuff. Now my pc won't start at all! At log in screen I get a message about uxtheme.dll and when I log in all i can see is my cursor!

Looks like you did something similar to this (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_install/blank-desktop-after-trying-to-change-theme-missing/2e044ae3-9e45-4cbd-92de-1097bdf10983)

Do a repair
