I keep getting trojans or worms thru the mail. these are blankemails that don't show up on the Email list only when I click a legitimate email. There is no subject and sender is unspecified. The real emails do not have an attachment. At their most benign they corrupt solitaire at their worse they eat my dial up ands networking. They do not show in my antivirus AVG - which is upto date. Anyone know of a way to stop them or of a trojan detector program???
Thanks

Easy answer is to go for a non-outlook email client.

Beyond that, I'm not sure. Patches to outlook may help, but I delete anything dodgy without going near it. This doesn't work 100% though.

I use a program called The Cleaner though there are others out there. If I recall The Cleaner has a demo as well. Have a look at www.moosoft.com and see if a demo is still available. I have been using it now for about 3 years, back then it was about $USD29? cannot recall for sure. On the more recent versions there are options like in Anti virus's to watch for trojans coming in and take action at that point as well.

If you're running Windows go to Start and, somewhere above Programs there is a link for Windows Update. Click it and do a Product Update.

Install all Critical Updates AND Critical Update Notification. This will plug the known holes in Windows and advise when others are available.

I use the Trojan Remover available for free at the following site.

http://ukdownloads.net/antivirus.html

There are a few other AV type freebies at the above link to for those looking for AV stuff.

And the following site has some good stuff re. Trojans and some tools.
