I was looking around for my new PC, and I have $300 left for my new GPU, (Can go to max 320) I saw a Gigabyte GTX 660 OC 2GB, and a Powercolour 7870 Ghz edition, can anybody help? welcome to other suggestions :)

Those are really your only options in that price range unless you want to try and find something from last generation for a similar price.

Benchmarks as linked in the other thread: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=660

Note that these benchmarks are from 2012, both cards should see a performance increase with newer drivers (notably the 7xxx series has had massive improvements in bf3 recently, still not as good as the 6xx NVidia cards in bf3 though). I also believe that these benchmarks are pre-7870ghz edition. So you'll see a performance increase again there too for the 7870.

You can get an HIS 7870 for $~10 more than the Powercolour one, I'd opt for that personally. If you go with the 660, Gigabyte is a great brand.

I thought the 7870 is closer to $400 at least all the ones I've seen so it's a great deal if you can get it for $300 but powercolour don't have the best reputation from what I've seen.

The only other option I can suggest is slightly slower but a great deal if you can find one - the 650Ti boost 2Gb has the 192bit memory interface and clocks of a 660 and is significantly faster than a standard 650Ti. I got an EVGA one from PBTech but it has dissappeared from the website so I'm not sure what the deal is there. Should be available at approx $250~$280 if you can track it down. It's a fairly new addition to the range so that's probably why it's not commonly advertised yet.

Yeah be careful if you do go Powercolor. Last one I got there wasn't enough thermal paste between the GPU and the heatsink, turns out it was quite a common issue. Then, the fan ended up burning out on it and I had to fully swap out the whole heatsink / fan on that card.

That said, I'm still a fan of my ATi cards :D The 7970 I just picked up is *fantastic*! :D

In my mind, the only two worth considering in that price range are these.

Asus and Gigabyte are both excellent, EVGA is OK. I personally don't touch powercolor or Sapphire.

I see you can get Gigabyte 7870 for $340. No issues with Sapphire as a brand imo. Used 3 of their newer cards 6770,7770,7850 no complaints about the quality of any of them.

If you ever decide to run Linux, you'll want the GeForce. The drivers are a million times better.
