I include a voice message to family and friends with an email.(like singing happy birthday etc.) No one else seems to do it. Is it acceptable to do this?

I guess the key question is this: How good is your singing?

But seriously, I am sure it is. The problem often is that you don't know what they are receiving the email through or on. The recipients email system may not be able to handle attachments well, or the recipient may not know what to do with it.
Also, it could be that they use a set-top box for their email, and may not be able to play sounds at all.

At worst, they won't be able to access it, or they may get a bit peeved if they have to download a large file they can't use.

It's still worth a try.

Thanks for your answer Robo.
As the voice message is not sent as an attachment (it plays automatically) everyone I have sent one to receives it perfectly (apart from I can't sing in tune!)You don't need any special set up or program to send it or hear it,
you only need your speakers on.

A voice email like singing happy birthday file size is only 215KB so doesn't take long to send or receive
