I have IE10 on Win7. Up until this morning I have never had a problem with Youtube sound.

This morning when watching a movie on YT, from the beginning there is no sound. If I download the movie then there is sound on the playback. This happens with all YT video clips such as TV clips etc. But, if I listen to music on YT, no problems, the sound is available

Is there a YT problem that will go away or is there something a little more insidious.

I have just changed Browser to Google Chrome - no problems. It would therefore seem that I have a bug with IE.

Update flash if its not up to date. Altho it'll probably get updated tomorrow. When the MS updates come out

Just played the clip here, W7 + IE10 -- works/played fine, so its either as speedy mentioned flash, or a setting in IE.

What you can do is reset IE and see if it fixes it - open IE, Tools/Internet Options/ Advanced Tab - there's two reset Buttons, if you click both it will reset IE EVERYTHING back to its defaults including Home Page.

Had a few minor problems with IE10 Lately, this fixed most of them. :)

Thanks WT. Just tried the reset but it didn't work. Will wait until tomorrows updates as suggested by Speedy and see if that helps.

Altho the latest version of flash is pretty crappy, it does hang / stopped working on some sites here..

OK. What I have found is that the sound slider on the clip was set to zero. You don't see the slider unless you click on the sound icon at the bottom left of the Youtube screen. All good now - thanks for the interest and ideas.
